Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, armed wing of Fatah movement, on Tuesday threatened to foil any steps to be adopted by new Palestinian cabinet led by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) aiming for security improvement.
Nasser Abu Azeez, the commander of the group based in the West Bank city of Nablus, said in press statements that "any steps would be adopted by the Hamas cabinet to improve the security situation would be foiled."
"They (Hamas) foiled late President Yasser Arafat's project and Fatah movement, and now we would foil their plans," said Abu Azeez, adding that "we would continue opening fire till they fail in their cabinet as they had foiled Fatah."
In order to guarantee the control of the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) during the upcoming four-year tenure, Hamas issued two main criterions, namely "interior security and financial and administrative reforms."
As the armed groups of Fatah movement have been in charge of the security issue in Palestinian territories in the past decade, Hamas feared that it can not succeed in controlling PNA.
Although Hamas is heading toward suspension of its military activities in the next stage in an attempt to create better security circumstances, it still refuses to officially renounce violence by saying that armed struggle is a basic side in its political belief.
