Brazil captain Cafu returns home for knee operation
font size

Cafu, 35, the captain of Brazil's national soccer team arrived here on Wednesday, for a Thursday operation on his left knee, injured last week while training with his home team AC Milan, of the Italian league, local media reported.

He told the media that he did not believe the problem would prevent him taking part in Brazil's bid for the "hexacapeonato": a sixth win, in June's Germany World Cup.

He said that the operation was simple and he would be healed in 30 days. However, it has prevented him from taking part in March 1's Brazil-Russia friendly due in Moscow.

Brazil manager Carlos Alberto Parreira told the press that he too believes that Cafu will be ready in time to serve as Brazil's captain.
