Former president of the scandal- tainted Livedoor Co Takafumi Horie has allegedly instructed to send money to a son of Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party ( LDP) secretary general, an opposition lawmaker told a parliamentary panel Thursday.
Horie, in a company email, ordered 30 million yen (about 256, 400 U.S. dollars) to be sent to the second son of Tsutomu Takebe as "electoral consultancy fee", Kyodo News reported, quoting a lawmaker of the Democratic Party of Japan.
Takebe denied the allegations Thursday during a parliamentary panel hearing. "I heard a parliamentary officer contacted my son and confirmed there was no such fact," he said.
The Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office, which is investigating the Livedoor scandal, announced it does not know if such an email exists or the allegations are true.
Horie, 33, the founder of the Tokyo-based Internet firm Livedoor, was indicted with three former executives of the firm, for alleged violation of the Securities and Exchange Law on Monday.
The high-profile entrepreneur ran in the House of Representatives election in September 2005 after he accepted Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi's request to run against a Liberal Democratic Party rebel, though he failed to win a seat.
