font size

Russia's Olympic gold and silver medallist Olga Pyleva withdrew from the women's 7.5km sprint in the Turin Games due to illness, Russia's team officials said in Turin Thursday.

Her absence from the sprint race meant she would not be eligible to race in the 10km pursuit on Saturday.

No details of her illness was immediately available.

The 30-year-old got the silver in the women's 15km individual in the Turin on Feb. 13. She won the gold in the 10km pursuit and bronze in the 4X7.5km relay in the 2002 Salt Lake City Games.
