The economic cooperation between Ethiopia and China has been expanding, speaker of Ethiopia 's upper House of Federation said Friday in Addis Ababa.
While receiving a Chinese delegation led by Ji Peiding, vice chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National People's Congress of China, Degife Bula said the volume of trade and investment between the two countries is encouraging.
Ethiopia is looking forward to see more Chinese investors to come and invest in Ethiopia, he said.
Degife said Ethiopians have got a lot to learn from the success stories made by the Chinese people in their fight against poverty, backwardness and nation building in general.
The speaker expressed the wish and profound hope of the Ethiopian people that the existing excellent political and diplomatic relations between Ethiopia and China be backed up by solid economic interdependence.
For his part, Ji said the two countries should add extra efforts with a view to further strengthening the existing Ethio- Chinese economic relations.
China has registered drastic economic growth over the past 27 years, he said, and the Chinese government has been exerting efforts aimed at improving the livelihood of the public.
Ji and his entourage arrived here Wednesday evening for a four- day working visit.
