No H5N1 virus detected in dead birds in Switzerland
font size

Tests done on 10 dead birds found in Switzerland have shown no signs of H5N1 virus, the Swiss Federal Veterinary Office said on Friday.

"All the analyses done on dead birds in Switzerland are negative: the animals did not die of bird flu," the Berne-based agency said in a statement.

The 10 dead birds, which included six swans and four other species, were found in five cantons including Zurich.

Several European countries bordering Switzerland - Italy, Austria and Germany - have found the deadly H5N1 virus in birds.
