Delegations of the Angolan Health Ministry, World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Fund for Agriculture (UNFAO) have met here to outline strategies to prevent the bird flu in Angola.

A press note published on Friday states that the meeting aimed to study methods of working and prevention of this disease in Angola due to the specter of a threat of bird flu on the African continent.

At the meeting, the three organisms have decided to adopt mechanisms for the exchange of information on the development of bird flu in the world and, particularly in Africa.

On the occasion, the Angolan Deputy Minister of Health, Jose Van-Dunem, said that a team will also be created at the level of the Ministry of Agriculture for vigilance's activity in the areas of entrance of migratory birds and national aviaries.

On her turn, WHO representative to Angola, Fatoumata Diallo, said that her organization has the conditions to mobilize experts to aid African countries, including Angola, as it has done in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, UNFAO representative to Angola, Anatoli Mba, invited Angola to attend a SADC meeting, in South Africa, which will analyze a contingency plan for the region.
