Revenue from exports of agricultural products in Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality hit a record high of 176.83 million U.S. dollars in 2005, up 14.7 percent on the previous year,as a result of strong trade ties with India.

The figure accounts for 7 percent of the city's total foreign trade revenue, according to statistics from the Chongqing Municipal Customs.

Chongqing recorded a trade volume of 52.45 million dollars by exporting goods to India, which accounted for 30 percent of the city's total.

Japan and Korea were Chongqing's second and third largest trading markets for agricultural products last year with a total export volume of 19.72 million dollars and 13.93 million dollars, respectively.

Silk-related goods and frozen pork products remain the major items in the city's agricultural exports, with a total volume of 54.28 million dollars and 17.35 million dollars, up 29.4 and 146 percent, respectively.

In 2005, the number of local enterprises engaging in exports of agricultural products increased to 171, 19 more than in 2004.
