font size

Methanex, the world's largest producer and marketer of methanol, moved its Asia Pacific region's head office from Auckland, New Zealand, to Hong Kong on Monday.

Hong Kong Secretary of Commerce, Industry and Technology Joseph Wong hosted the opening ceremony of Methanex Corporation's Hong Kong office. He welcomed Methanex to move its Asia Pacific headquarters to Hong Kong, and said that the company's move reinforces Hong Kong's position as the preferred location for international businesses.

During the ceremony, Mike Herz, director of marketing and logistics in Asia Pacific region of Methanex, said: "Hong Kong provides a well developed business infrastructure, access to talented professionals, a great place to live and a convenient location from which we can grow our business in Asia."

Until late last year, Methanex's Asia Pacific marketing and logistics operation was headquartered in Auckland. The move to Hong Kong reflects Asia's position as the fastest growing methanol market in the world.

Methanex is based in Vancouver, Canada, and its shares are listed for trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange in Canada.
