BMW begins to make profit in China
font size

BMW began to gain profit in China, said Helmut Panke, Chief Executive Official of BMW at the BMW Asia meeting in Singapore last week.

Panke said that BMW's retail sales in Chinese market increased by 37.4% to 31,600 units last year, but he did not disclose the exact profit.

Panke estimates that BMW is expected to sell 50,000 cars in China by 2008, trying to occupy one third of Asia market.

In 2004, BMW experienced a record low sales period in China. Insiders even suspected whether BMW's Chinese luxurious car strategy was a failed one.
