S.Korea to provide fertilizer to DPRK
font size

The South Korean government announced Wednesday it has accepted an earlier demand of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) for provision of some 45,000 tons of fertilizer free-of-charge.

South Korea is to start transportation of the first 15,000 tons of fertilizer from Feb. 28 to the DPRK for its spring crops, announced South Korean Unification Ministry.

Seoul will complete the delivery of the rest 30,000 tons of fertilizer in the latter part of this year, the Ministry said, adding that South Korea has provided more than 1.9 million tons of fertilizer free-of-charge to the DPRK since 1999.

The DPRK raised the demand in early February. Previously, South Korean Unification Ministry already hinted it would accept the demand as South Korea regularly provided fertilizer to the DPRK from 1999.
