A couple have been arrested for producing and selling drugs in their own factory in East China's Jiangxi Province, a local police source said.
The couple, Liu Jun, under the fake name of Yang Shengli, his wife Hu Wei, and nine others were caught producing and selling drugs in the couple's factory in Nanchang, the provincial capital, police said.
Local police captured 6.86 kilograms of Ketamine, a kind of drug, and 1.47 million yuan (180,000 U.S. dollars) in cash, in addition to equipment and materials for producing drugs, the source said.
The couple began their research on drug production in 2000 when Hu worked as a researcher at a testing center of a local college. In Oct.2004, the couple began producing drugs and later hired their relatives to work in the factory.
This is the biggest case of producing and selling drugs in the province's history, the source said, adding the province will continue cracking down on illegal drug production.
