China destroys 10 million illegal and pirated publicationsChina destroyed more than 10 million illegal and pirated publications across the country on Thursday. The move was launched in 11 provinces and municipalities, including Beijing, Hebei and Guangdong, according to the office of the national working group for fighting pornographic and illegal publications. Around 800,000 illegal publications were destroyed in the national capital Beijing, 5 million pirated discs in South China's Guangdong province and more than 1 million illegal publications in East China's Jiangsu Province, including 800,000 pirated discs and 240,000 pirated books. Also on Thursday, Chinese Vice Premier Wu Yi pledged at a conference in Beijing that the Chinese government would take more resolute and effective measures to continue making their unrelenting efforts to push for the protection of intellectual property rights (IPR) in coming years.
