The H5N1 virus has been found in several dead ducks in Cambodia's Kompong Cham province, official confirmed on Friday.

Yim Venthan, secretary of state of Ministry of Agriculture, said several ducks found dead about two weeks ago in Kompong Cham province. The tests on the dead ducks found with H5N1 virus, but found no infection to human lives as of today.

He said that the central government in cooperation with local authorities has culled all the remaining ducks of about 200 in the village.

"We have conducted surveillance in the nearby village, but no infection found. However, alert message spread in the area," Yim Venthan said.

But he said that "it is not so easy to cull the animals as villagers fear they might lose profit from their raise until compensation is made. However, for the time being, the place where ducks found with the virus, the raiser cooperated with the authority to cull them."

In the village, there are about 1,000 ducks raised.

The virus has already killed four people in Cambodia since late 2003.
