U.S. President George W. Bush accused on Friday Iran of sponsoring terrorism and vowed that the United States will not let Iran develop nuclear weapons.
"A non-transparent society that is the world's premier state sponsor of terror cannot be allowed to possess the world's most dangerous weapons," Bush said in a speech on the war against terrorism.
Bush's remarks on Iran echoed his chief diplomat, U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
"It's not just Iran's nuclear program but also their support for terrorism around the world," Rice said when she testified before the Senate Budget Committee on Feb. 16.
The United States has threatened to refer Iran's nuclear issue to the UN Security Council for possible sanctions.
