Two U.S. soldiers killed in western Baghdad

Two U.S. soldiers were killed on Sunday in a bomb attack in western Baghdad, U.S. military said.

The roadside bomb blast hit a U.S. military vehicle at 2:50 a.m. (2350 GMT on Saturday) on Sunday, immediately killing a soldier and severely wounding another who died later after was evacuated to a military hospital, the military said in a statement.

The names of the killed soldiers are being withheld pending notification of next of kin, the statement said.

The latest deaths brought the death toll of U.S. military personnel in Iraq to about 2,290 since the U.S.-led invasion in March 2003.
