Jordanian King Abdullah II stressed on Sunday that the dispute between Syria and Lebanon should be resolved through dialogue.

King Abdullah II made the remarks in his meeting with Nabih Berri, Lebanese parliamentary Speaker, urging Lebanon and Syria to put their general interest first, restore their traditional friendship and do their utmost to avoid worsening situation in the region.

King Abdullah II said Jordan hoped Lebanon would become a united and strong country and can get out of the current difficult situation.

He further called on international organizations to continue their efforts to probe former Lebanese Premier Rafik Hariri's assassination until the whole truth comes out.

Jordan will keep in touch with Lebanese leaders to help Lebanon shake off its crisis, King Abdullah II added.

Berri appreciated Jordan's position and King Abdullah II's concern over the Lebanese situation. He hoped to further strengthen the Lebanese-Jordanian relations.

Berri said he supported UN investigations into Hariri's killing, stressing that he did not expect to see the Lebanese-Syrian relations fall apart.

Berri arrived in the Jordanian capital of Amman on Saturday to attend a meeting of Arab parliamentarians at the Jordanian resort of the Dead Sea.
