Romania detected new cases of bird flu in domestic birds in the eastern county of Constanta, Rompres reported on Sunday.
Tests carried out by health authorities in Constanta and Bucharest found that the five dead fowls in Constanta had been killed by the H5 bird flu virus.
Head of the Constanta county Danut Culetu has ordered to cull all poultry in the virus-affected area.
About 2,000 residents in Constanta received vaccinations immediately after the outbreak, he added.
This has been the sixth time for the Constanta county to be hit by the virus. The previous five outbreaks have been confirmed to be caused by the deadly H5N1 strain.
So far, bird flu has been detected in 34 villages across Romania since the virus was first found in the Danube Delta in October last year. But no cases in humans has been reported in the country.
