Malaysia and Saudi Arabia on Tuesday will jointly host the First Meeting of the Working Group on Political and Security Issues of the Asia-Middle East Dialogue (AMED) here.

The two-day meeting aims to promote dialogue and enhance cooperation between countries in Asia and the Middle East, Malaysian Foreign Ministry said Monday.

Ninety-seven representatives from about 30 countries in the region are expected to attend the meeting, said the ministry in a statement released here.

Participants will exchange their views on three issues, namely, the political and security developments in Asia and the Middle East, cooperation in the fight against international terrorism and energy security, said the statement.

Malaysian Foreign Minister Syed Hamid Albar will deliver the keynote address at the opening ceremony, the statement added.
