A book named 25,000 li Long March collected by Jiang Mingquan, a teacher in Xi County, central China's Anhui province, is believed to be China's earliest book about the Long March by Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army, He Xinyu, an associate research fellow from Ningxia Museum confirmed.
32 mo and typeset in vertical order, the 30,000-character book, with both traditional and simplified characters seen on its cover, was first published on Jan. 1, 1938. Except the preface, the book recorded the conditions before the Long March and the four phases of the march, with the latter described in detail.
The appendix includes the journey by the First Front Army of the Red Army, and the back cover was a sketch map illustrating the time and route of the Long March. The advertisements for book published and to be published, including Biography of Mao Tsetong, Collection of Mao Tsetong's opinions toward the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, China's New Northwest, The Life of Zhu De as well as dramas to save the nation from extinction composed by Ding Ling were carried on the last page.
