Ethiopia signs extradition pact with police organization

Ethiopia and the Eastern Africa Police Chiefs Cooperation Organization (EAPCCO) signed an agreement Tuesday on extradition of "convicted criminals and fugitives" in the Horn of Africa.

At a signing ceremony, Ethiopia's Minister of Federal Affairs Siraj Fegesa said that apart from strengthening the already established collaborative works, the agreement is of immense significance in maintaining peace and stability at the continental level.

The two sides will jointly combat cross-border crimes and fight terrorism, according to the agreement.

EAPCCO was founded in Kampala, Uganda, during the first meeting of east African police chiefs, held in February 1998 and came into force in August 2002.
