China appreciates Russia's condemnation of Taiwan leader Chen Shui-bian's moves to cease the function of the "National Unification Council (NUC)" and the application of the "National Unification Guidelines", said Chinese Vice President Zeng Qinghong on Thursday in Beijng.
Zeng made the remarks in a meeting with visiting Russian Minister of Interior Rashid Nurgaliyev. He said China highly appreciates Russia's constant adherence to the one-China principle and opposition to "Taiwan independence".
Zeng said Chen Shi-bian's actions are grave provocations against the one-China principle widely accepted by the international community and peace and stability across the Taiwan straits.
"We resolutely oppose the 'Taiwan independence' secession forces and their acts," said Zeng, "and we will continue to strive for the prospect of peaceful reunification, but we will never allow 'Taiwan independence' secessionist forces to secede Taiwan from the motherland under any name or by any means."
Nurgaliyev is here to attend a meeting on law-enforcement between the Chinese Ministry of Public Security and the Russian Interior Ministry.
