China and Russia will further their cooperation in fighting against cross-border crimes, illegal immigration and terrorism as well as enhancing law-enforcement, according to the Ministry of Public Security.

Zhou Yongkang, Chinese State Councilor and minister of public security, held talks with Russian Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev in Beijing on Thursday.

Nurgaliyev is here to attend a meeting on law-enforcement between Chinese Ministry of Public Security and Russian Interior Ministry.

The two sides said the meeting could play a role in maintaining social stability and safeguarding people's lives and possessions.

After the talks, the two ministers signed an agreement on setting up a joint taskforce to crack down on cross-border crimes.
