Uganda calls for AIBA to relax conditions for hosts
font size

Uganda Amateur Boxing Federation (UABF) has said that it will not stage the International Amateur Boxing Association (AIBA) ranked King's Cup boxing tournament if the international body does not relax its conditions for the hosts.

According to local press report on Sunday, the world amateur boxing governing body last Monday presented strict set of rules for UABF to follow including accommodation in four star hotel, paying allowances of 75 US dollars per person, cars for 23 visiting AIBA delegation and providing spy cameras throughout the competitions.

AIBA president for the African bureau Maj. Gen. Francis Nyangweso has presented a booklet of the conditions to UABF general secretary Sande Musoke and warned that failure to follow the rules will mark the end of the Cup in Uganda.

"I think it is just a scapegoat for AIBA to scrap this tournament off their calendar. Maj. Gen. (Nyangweso) has even told us," Musoke was quoted by Uganda's Sunday Vision as saying.
