The Oscar for best live action short film has been awarded to Martin McDonagh for "Six Shooter," the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced Sunday evening in Hollywood.
And the winner of the best animated short film award went to " The Moon and the Son: An Imagined Conversation" by John Canemaker and Peggy Stern.
"Memoirs of a Geisha," directed by Steven Spielberg and starred by Chinese actress Zi-yi Zhang, also won an Oscar-- the award for costume design.
Earlier, George Clooney received the first Oscar as best supporting actor for thriller "Syriana." Clooney was the first big name appeared at the 78th Academy Awards at the Kodak Theatre.
"King Kong,"director Peter Jackson's highly touted tale that didn't capture any nominations in the major categories, won the Oscar for visual effects.
The Oscar for best animated feature, meanwhile, went to " Wallace & Gromit in the Curse of the Were-Rabbit."
