British star Rachel Weisz won Oscar for the best supporting actress for her work in "The Constant Gardener" the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced Sunday evening in Hollywood.
Weisz gave a commanding performance as an activist who investigates a web of intrigue surrounding the working methods of a multinational drug company in Africa.
She has been the bookies' favourite to win an Oscar for Britain at the 78th Academy Awards at the Kodak Theatre.
The Oscar for achievement in makeup went to Howard Berger and Tami Lane for "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe."
