Jihad condemns re-detaining its freed membersThe Islamic Jihad (Holy War) condemned on Sunday re-detaining its members who were recently freed from the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) jails in the West Bank city of Tulkarem and Ramallah. Jihad leader in Gaza Nafez Azzam told reporters that the Palestinian security members on Saturday rearrested a number of Jihad members who were freed from the PNA jails not long ago. Condemning such a step as a move harming the internal relations among all Palestinian factions, Azzam said "The PNA doesn't have a justification to re-arrest our activists in the time that all parties seek to the national unity and strengthening the internal front line." He asserted that his movement would hold contacts with the PNA over the issue and urge them to release the detained Jihad members. "We deal with the internal subjects calmly and we are eager to protect the highest interests of our people, but at the same time we won't leave such a question unresolved," he stressed. Commenting on warnings made by Israeli Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz to re-arrest or assassinate any of the freed political prisoners from the PNA jails, Azzam said it was not a new threat given by the occupation state.
