Museveni urges integration to ensure better political changes in Africa
font size

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni Monday said the task ahead is to work towards the integration of east Africa to ensure that the political situation in Africa changes for the better.

According to a press release from the Ugandan State House, Museveni made the remarks when met with Ugandan ambassadors and high commissioners who called on him at State House in Kampala.

Museveni was reelected in the February 23 presidential elections with 59.28 percent of votes.

The president called on Ugandan envoys to promote Uganda in their respective stations, especially investments.

He said that an officer should be stationed in each embassy and at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kampala to handle all issues related to foreign investments.

He told the envoys that foreign investments are currently hampered by bureaucracy and lack of credible studies to show viable investment opportunities in Uganda.

On the conflict in northern Uganda, President Museveni assured the envoys that the country is now secure because terrorists like rebel leader Joseph Kony have now fled to the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

He said the terrorists cannot come back because government has created a multi-dimensional capacity army which is able to effectively deal with any attack on land and in air.

The president added that all areas in Uganda are now accessible and the country does not need any help regarding security.
