Leslie A. Goodman, senior vice president of strategic communications of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, said Tuesday that no agreement has been reached on a new theme park in Shanghai.
Goodman said the focus of Walt Disney at the moment was the success of the newly opened Disney theme park in Hong Kong and there was no new information to offer about a Shanghai park.
Walt Disney has not yet reached any agreement to build a new theme park in Shanghai, said Goodman, who emphasized that even if there were an agreement, Disney's second theme park in China would not be ready for service before 2010.
However, Goodman said China was the first choice for Walt Disney to expand business.
The corporate executive also said theme parks are just part of Walt Disney's overall development strategy. In addition to theme parks, Walt Disney will continue to carry out negotiations with China regarding TVs, cartoons and consumer commodities.
