China live telecast delivery of work report of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature, for the first time on Thursday morning.

China Central Television, China National Radio and China Radio International live telecast delivery of the report by Wu Bangguo, chairman of the Tenth NPC Standing Committee, at a plenary meeting of the NPC in the Great Hall of the People in downtown Beijing. The meeting began at 9 a.m..

"Live telecast of delivery of the report aims to meet public demand for more information about NPC's work, including lawmaking and supervision," said an official with the press center of the ongoing NPC annual session, which began on March 5 and is scheduled to conclude on March 14.

"It's a part of China's ceaseless efforts to enhance transparency of NPC's work and promote political democracy," said the official.

China's leading news websites, including people.com.cn, xinhuanet.com, China.com.cn, npc.people.com.cn and the Chinese central government website www.gov.cn are also carrying out real-time online reporting of Thursday's meeting.

The Chinese public has more channels to learn about information about this year's NPC annual session. All press conferences during this year's NPC annual session are live telecast on TV and radio as well as by news websites.

News briefings of motions and proposals submitted by deputies to the NPC are made on a daily basis.
