Fujian: tech fair platform for commercialization

A project matching tea party was held in Beijing on March 2 for the China (Fujian)Technology & Projects Fair scheduled on June 18 (6.18 Fair). Governor of Fujian Province Huang Xiaojing who was also in Beijing for the sessions of the NPC (National People's Congress) and CPPCC (Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference) attended the meeting.

In cordial talks with attending experts he expressed the hope that they would introduce more projects and achievements into Fujian through the upcoming fair where the projects would couple with businesses. He required relevant departments and businesses in Fujian to make full use of the fair, boost commercialization of projects and achievements, improve companies' capability in independent innovation and continuously supply projects for the economic zone on the west side of the Taiwan Straits.

For days Fujian provincial departments and representative office in Beijing, together with Beijing Scientific and Technological Development Center, held the first "6.18" project and achievement promoting training class for officials and personnel implementing the project commercialization. During the training session they went to institutions like Peking University, Tsinghua University, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) to seek projects and achievements in the hope of coupling technological achievements and demands. To facilitate face-to-face exchange the organizer arranged this special tea party.

From Tsinghua Tongfang, Beijing University School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Beijing New Materials Center, CAS Automation Institute, China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology, Beijing Scientific and Technological Development Center, over 50 experts were engaged in the discussion over 300 or so technological demands from Fujian Province. They also brought with them the latest research achievements looking to settle in Fujian.

Tsinghua professor Qi Kangnan, who put forward insightful opinions on the photoelectron industry in Fujian during the training session, was also invited to the party. The attendees seized the opportunity to negotiate over projects, catch new information and make friends. The governor also held cordial talks with the experts.

The party lasted late into the night. Beijing UE Biotech said it would invest $10 million in building a plant in Xiamen, Fujian Province.More than 40 projects have made good matches.
