Fatah spokesman in the parliament Azzam Al-Ahmed said on Wednesday that the movement might not join a Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas)-led coalition government as the gap between the two parties is widening.
Al-Ahmed told the radio Voice of Palestine that the gap was broadened as Hamas refused the demand of four parties in the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) to add four points into the government's political platform, which mainly focus on the authority of Basic Law, international legitimacy and the Palestine Liberation Organization.
Fatah movement, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), Independent Palestine Party and the Alternative List party raised the demand during a dialogue meeting held at Hamas top leader Mahmoud Al-Zahar's house in Gaza Wednesday.
Hamas said it would consider the points proposed by the parties and will present the final formula of its cabinet, but they sent to us hours later a copy of platform with no difference to the first copy that we received two days ago, Al-Ahmedhe criticized.
Meanwhile, Saleh Zeidan from the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, who is also a representative of the Alternative List, said earlier that the parties also stressed the need to maintain the civil democratic nature of the Palestinian society.
"The program must stress the need to keep the achievements of women and develop these accomplishments towards total equality in all aspects," said Zeidan.
