China's software sector realized revenue of 390 billion yuan in 2005 increasing by 40.3 percent over the previous year, says latest statistics released by the Ministry of Information Industry. The rise is 16.7 percentage points higher than the sales revenue growth of electronic information industry in the same period, continuing software's history as one of the fastest growth sector in the electronic information industry.
The statistics provided by the Ministry show that during the tenth Five Year (2001-2005) China's software industry had an average growth rate of over 40 percent, more than quadrupling in size and its proportion in the electronic information industry has increased from the 6.3 percent in 2001 to 11.2 percent in 2005.
A report released on March 16 by the renowned market researcher CCID Consulting predicts that China's Internet industry would grow at a rate of over 30 percent in the next five years and by 2010 the size of the industry would surpass 155 billion yuan.
The scale of China's Internet industry had reached 37.5 billion yuan in 2005, posting an annual growth rate of 30 percent.
