China's leading newspaper, the People's Daily, publishes a commentary on Monday calling on the nation to turn the blueprint set by the 11th Five-Year Plan into reality.

The 11th Five-Year Plan conforms to China's reality, expresses the common will of the people of various ethnic groups and reflects the trend of development. It can be achieved by efforts, the commentary says.

The new five-year plan will usher in a key period for comprehensively building a well-off society. The nation must grasp the opportunities and face the challenges ahead. It must overcome obstacles and difficulties in the political, economic, cultural and social constructions so as to lay a firm foundation for the development of the next 10 years, it stresses.

Based on a summary of the experiences from the 10th five-year plan, the new plan clarifies the goal and major tasks for the next five years and provides an overall layout for the economic construction, social development, reform and opening-up, the commentary says.

"The new plan will greatly inspire the nation to build a prosperous society and will leave a deep impact on development over the next five years or longer," it hails.
