Paraguay's soccer ruling body, the APF, has closed the Manuel Ferreira studium, for a provisional 30 days, in response to a Sunday night stone-throwing incident, according to Tuesday reports from Asuncion.
The APF said in a statement that it will also investigate the incident, which occured during a Olimpia-Sporting Luqueno match, and forced referee Carlos Torres to end the match in the 39th minute of the second half.
Olympia fans began throwing stones, which hit Luqeno players, when the home team went 2-1 down to the visitors, a result which boosted Luqueno to the fourth place in the league.
The AFP said that it would exmine the evidence of the referee, the linesman, videos of the match, and the objects found on the playing field.
Oscar Harrison, head of the AFP, and Federico Frutos, minister of sport, met on Monday night to discuss recent football violence, and decided to bring together the presidents of the 11 Premier League clubs on Wednesday to tackle the problem.
Olimpia has been experiencing a deep crisis, during which its arch rival Cerro Porteno has won both the 2004 and 2005 championships. Cerro is also leading this year's tournament.
