font size

A meeting of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC) concluded on Friday, approving a personnel list for the committee's next tenure (the 10th tenure) and other important issues, Vietnam News Agency reported.

The 14th meeting decided the time for organizing the 10th national party congress, and passed a working tentative plan for it, CPVCC General Secretary Nong Duc Manh said at the closing ceremony.

The six-day meeting also completed documents, including a draft political report and a revised stature of the party, for submission to the upcoming congress, he said.

In the previous meeting in January, the Political Bureau of the CPVCC gave party committees at all levels guidance on introducing candidates to the CPVCC in the 10th tenure.

The 12th meeting of the CPVCC in July 2005 approved orientations for personnel structure of the committee in the tenure. The committee's structure must ensure the comprehensive leadership in fields, regions and important positions, as well as the presence of young cadres, women, ethnic persons and people at different social classes.

The congress' theme has been defined as "Enhancing the Party's leadership capacity and combat power, bringing the strength of the whole nation into play, comprehensively accelerating the renewal process, and quickly bringing the country out of the underdeveloped status."
