British Crown Prince Charles starts visit to Saudi Arabia
font size

British Crown Prince Charles and his wife Camilla arrived in Saudi Arabia on Friday on a three-day visit.

Charles is scheduled to hold talks with Saudi King Abdullah and Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz, during which he will promote religious tolerance and understanding, according to Charles' spokesman.

Charles and Camilla just wrapped up a five-day visit to Egypt before reaching Saudi Arabia.

During a speech at Cairo's Al-Azhar University, the highest seat of learning for Sunni Muslims, Charles called for greater tolerance and respect for religion amid the backdrop of widespread protests in the Muslim world against cartoons depicting the Prophet Mohammad which appeared in some Western publications.

Charles and Camilla are to head to India after their tour in Saudi Arabia.
