Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari urged here Saturday that his country is seeking support from Arab leaders in the upcoming summit meeting to be held in the Sudanese capital Khartoum on March 28-29.
"We want a clear message of support from the Arab leaders for Iraq," Zebari told Xinhua while walking into the meeting hall here to attend a meeting on Iraq.
Arab League (AL) foreign ministers started their meetings in Khartoum Saturday in preparation for the annual Arab summit.
A special ministerial committee on the Iraqi file is to start a closed session on Saturday morning, two hours before a general session of the Arab foreign ministers.
Under AL Secretary General Amr Moussa, foreign ministers from Jordan, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, Kuwait and Iraq are sitting inside a meeting room in the Sudanese Friendship Hall on the west bank of the Blue Nile river to make their last-minute review of an Arab decision on Iraq, which will be submitted to the general session of the AL foreign ministers.
Calling on an Arab movement contributing to stabilizing the tensions in his country, Zebari disclosed that a detailed resolution on Iraq would be issued by the Arab summit.
"This is a critical time for Iraq," the foreign minister said, adding that "we need serious and clear commitment from our Arab brothers."
