The Islamic Resistance Movement ( Hamas) accused the United States on Tuesday of being not interested in achieving peace and stability in the Middle East region.
Hamas spokesman in Gaza Sami Abu Zuhri said in a written statement that the U.S. was "not interested in achieving any kind of stability or real peace in the region", adding that Washington was only interested in protecting the Israeli occupation.
He also slammed Washington's rejection of Hamas prime minister- designate Ismail Haneya's call for talks toward a "just peace" in the region.
Abu Zuhri added that the standoff over the decades-long Palestinian-Israeli conflict was the Israeli continuos occupation and the U.S. taking sides with Israel.
Haneya presented a new Hamas-led government to the parliament for approval on Monday.
The Hamas-dominated legislature, continuing its session on Tuesday, is expected to give a green light to the cabinet on Tuesday or Wednesday.
Hamas, sworn to Israel's destruction, has refused to renounce violence, recognize Israel's right to exist and accept previous Palestinian-Israeli deals.
