Wang Jiarui, head of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, met on Tuesday with a delegation from the Democratic Revolutionary Party (DRP) of Panama and governor of Kyonggi province of the Republic of Korea (ROK).

Wang told the DRP delegation, led by DRP President Hugo Giraud, that although China and Panama do not have diplomatic ties, the CPC and the DRP have maintained long-term exchanges and cooperation.

Strengthening relations between the two parties and promoting normalization of bilateral ties through party exchanges, conforms to the fundamental interests of both countries and their people, he said.

Giraud said the DRP attaches importance to its friendly ties with the CPC and hopes to cement such relations. As the ruling party of Panama, the DRP will make efforts to promote normalization of bilateral relations.

During his meeting with Sun Hak Jyu, governor of Kyonggi province, Wang said the CPC and the Chinese government highly value their relations with the ROK, and is ready to work with friendly personnel from both sides to promote even greater progress of bilateral ties.

Sun Hak Jyu spoke highly of China's achievements in its economic and social development. He voiced his appreciation for the development concepts proposed by the new Chinese leadership such as "the scientific concept of development" and "building a harmonious society".

The ROK side appreciates the CPC's efforts in maintaining peace and stability of northeast Asia and especially the Korean Peninsula, he said.
