Iranian FM says Iran-U.S. dialogue not to extend beyond Iraq issue
font size

Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said on Thursday in Geneva that proposed Iran-U.S. discussions would only deal with the Iraq issue.

U.S. officials confirmed that the dialog was limited to the Iraq topic, Mottaki told reporters after addressing the 65-nation Conference on Disarmament.

The dialogue was proposed by Iraqi leaders and would provide an opportunity to help the Iraqi nation, Mottaki said.

He added that the time, location and participants in the dialogue had yet to be finalized.

In the past years, Iran has always supported the stability and expansion of democracy in Iraq and respected its neighbor's territorial integrity and national unity, he said.
