Senegalese police and customs officers have seized 8.3 tons of marijuana at the port of Dakar, Interior Minister Ousmane Ngom said Friday.
Ngom said the drugs, with a street value of 128 million euros (155 million U.S. dollars), was found Thursday in a container arriving coming from Pakistan.
It is the biggest haul of marijuana ever seized in the country.
On Friday, police arrested a French citizen of Tunisian descent and a Senegalese in connection with the case. Interpol police are hunting for several other suspects.
Antonio Mazzitelli, representative of the UN anti-drugs agency for Africa, said the organization would strengthen surveillance over the ports of Dakar and Accra, Ghana's capital.
