China would cooperate with countries around the world on urban development, said Chinese Minister of Construction Wang Guangtao at the opening of the African Ministerial Conference on Housing and Urban Development held Monday.
The miniser, a special guest speaker at the two-day meeting, said that the Chinese government will continue to conduct extensive cooperation and exchange with countries around the world and relevant international organizations, including the UN-HABITAT, to improve people's living situation.
Wang was invited by the conference to share China's experience in improving its human settlements.
Wang enumerated several measures China has undertaken to address urbanization, including developing low-cost construction technology and levying lower taxes for ordinary housing.
The meeting, attended by ministers from more than 40 African countries, is aimed to seek ways of improving policy formulation and implementation for addressing the housing and urban management problems in Africa.
