Another al-Qaida fugitive surrender to Yemeni police

An al-Qaida fugitive involved in the 2002 attack on the French oil tanker Limburg had turned himself in to the Yemeni police.

The fugitive, who had been sentenced to death by the Yemeni special criminal court, was among the 23 al-Qaida detainees who escaped from a prison in Sanaa in early February, the police said.

A total of six al-Qaida escapees had so far surrendered and the police were stepping up the efforts to hunt for the rest of the fugitives, the police added.

Yemeni authorities have offered a bounty of 25,500 U.S. dollars for information leading to the arrest of each of the fugitives.
