Ethiopia, Kenya sign security agreement on border
font size

Ethiopia and Kenya on Friday signed a cooperation agreement, aimed at maintaining prevailing peace and security along common borders.

The agreement was signed in Adama town of south Ethiopia's Oromia State following the conclusion of a two-day meeting of the Ethio-Kenya Joint Border Administration Commission.

Under the agreement, the two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation to maintain peace and security and halt anti-peace forces in border areas.

The two sides said tribal conflicts, which had been observed in border areas earlier, have been minimized.

They said encouraging results have been registered by strengthening sub-committees and organizing regular meetings of the commission on time.

The two sides also agreed to work jointly to create situations for free movement of citizens of both countries in the common border areas.
