The public life of Nepali capital, the Kathmandu Valley, remained affected by the general strike called by the seven political parties.
The number of vehicles plying on the road was very minimal while shops on the main bazaar remained closed. However, shops in the lanes opened as usual.
Trolley bus and buses belonging to the Sajha Yatayat, a private company, provided service to the passengers.
However, public transport on the long route remained closed. Some taxi and motorcycle along with a few numbers of bicycles could be seen on the roads.
Many of the office employees walked to and from their respective offices. Daily transaction at some banking and telecommunications office was also affected.
There were provision of shuttle service for tourists coming to and leaving the country.
The demonstrators and security personnel clashed at different parts of the valley. In this connection, the demonstrators damaged a private vehicle by pelting stones at New Baneswor, downtown of the city.
