A spokesman of the Hamas-led cabinet on Sunday condemned an ongoing Israeli military offensive in the Gaza Strip, terming that a new Israeli cabinet would be a government of war.

Ghazi Hammad made the comment after 15 Palestinians, most of them militants, were killed in Israeli military actions in the strip over the weekend.

"There is no space for political talks and dialogue, and the coming Israeli government will be a government of war to continue with barbarian crimes against the Palestinian people," Hammad told reporters.

He warned that such military actions would lead to more disasters and massacres in Gaza.

Meanwhile, Hammad expressed astonishment at the world silence to the ongoing Israeli offensive.

"The Palestinians are not threatening peace and security in the region. We believe that Israel is the one," said the Hamas spokesman.

Israel said that the military actions in Gaza was in response to homemade rockets attacks launched by Palestinian militants.

The stepped up actions came after Hamas, which is bent on destruction of the Jewish state, came to power in late March.

Israel has vowed that it would not deal with a Hamas-led government unless the radical group meets the three conditions of recognizing Israel, renouncing violence and honoring previous peace deals.
