Ecuador's Perez wins S. America speedwalk crown in Bolivia

Ecuador's Jefferson Perez won the South American speedwalk championship on Sunday in one hour 26 minutes and 57 second over the 20 kms course, according to reports from Bolivia.

Perez, the Olympic champion in the discipline, narrowly beat Colombia's Luis Fernando Lopez, who clocked in at 01:27:26.

Bolivia's Geovana Irusta won the women's event with a time of 1:41:20 followed by Ecuador's Miriam Ramos in 1:43:32.
