Oliver Kahn said on Monday that his international career would not be affected though failing to become the first-choice German goalkeeper for the 2006 World Cup.
The veteran told a news conference in Munich that he still believed in his value to the national team.
"I think it's important for the national team that I am there, despite my disappointment,"said Kahn, who captained Germany to the final of the 2002 World Cup in South Korea and Japan.
German coach Juergen Klinsmann revealed on Friday that Jens Lehmann of Arsenal would be the number one for the hosts for the June 9-July 9 tournament.
Kahn has played 84 times for the World Cup hosts while Lehmann has won 29 caps.
