France recorded a trade deficit of 2.015 billion euros (2.44 billion U.S. dollars) in February, sharply down from January's 2.367 billion euros (2,86 billion dollars), according to the French customs service on Tuesday.
The figure was better than the predicted deficit of 2.3 billion euros by many economists.
The data, which showed a slight fall in exports and imports, did not change a trend toward increased overall trade, according to the customs service.
